Diamond, the beloved bassist, tragically dies from a broken heart as the drummer, Denny Slumdog, is arrested for assaulting a Cardinals fan. The word "Toltec" means a man or woman of knowledge, and the path of Toltecs is knowledge that inevitably leads to freedom.
There are a large number of characters in the novel, and I found myself backtracking a couple of times to try to keep track of them and their particular part in the story. Experiments done on Bald Eagles suggest that birds Cry of the Eagle in acoustic isolation produce atypical songs in their adult stages Eakle et al.
It presents Toltec teachings on the warrior's path in a well-constructed, precise and vigilant manner. For instance it describes the shooting down of one of the viscount aeroplanes towards the end of the war - very disturbing and easily pictured. The characters are really the stars of this tale with the historical detail providing a Cry of the Eagle and interesting backdrop for the action of the story. Although fictional, the story does appear to be fact based. If learning to live like that is a path with a heart for you than study the concepts in this book and practise them in your daily life, because that's where the rubber hits the road.
I just struggled to connect with the book and after weeks very unusual for me to take so long , I gave up half way.
They provide a rare insight into an aspect of native culture little known to the outside world.
